Balancing Hormones

Do you struggle with: weight management, either being overweight, gaining weight or can’t lose weight, struggling with anxiety and/or depression, irregular digestion, irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia? You may be suffering from a very common phenomenon called Hormonal Imbalance.

Hormones play a huge role in the way that our body reacts and responds to life. Even the slightest imbalance can begin a domino effect of symptoms that we endure until we no longer feel like ourselves and our body is almost unrecognizable. There are ways to balance and regulate your hormones, but the solution is different for everyone and requires some effort on your part to recognize the problem, reorganize your lifestyle, and begin to utilize essential oil tools that can aid you in maintaining the balance.

The human body is incredibly complex. There are a few areas to address to ensure hormones stay in a healthy homeostasis. We must start with our nutrition. Many people today eat a diet very high in processed carbs, quick snack foods and fast food to accommodate the fast-paced lifestyle we live. These foods are broken down extremely quickly into sugar in the blood which raises insulin and cortisol levels. Both insulin and cortisol play a major role weight gain and hormonal imbalances. Properly fueling the body with a whole food diet and supplements, such as Life Long Vitality or Daily Nutrient Pack, will be the first line of defense to combating hormonal imbalances. Take one step at a time. Try not to be overwhelmed. Add fruits, veggies and healthy fats to your food choices to one meal per week, then increase to two meals. Swap out a bag of chips for apple slices and almond butter. Go slow and have patience as you create an environment that is conducive to hormone stability.

The second area of focus is exercise. Moving the body helps balance hormones, manage stress as well as combat weight gain. If you don’t have a normal-regular exercise routine, it’s time to start one. The human body is a beautiful machine that was not designed to be idle or sedentary. Pick some form of movement to do more days out of the week than not. When we ignore the bodies requirement for movement we hit the fast forward button toward hormonal imbalances.

Combining the use of a healthy diet and supplements together with a reasonable exercise plan with the right essential oils we can regain control of our out of balance hormones.

The third area is using essential oils help support hormone homeostasis specifically in the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is the control center for behavior, autonomic and endocrine system processes, and balances hormones that control body temperature, hunger, thirst, sleep, mood and more.
